Photographic and poetic meanderings along the countryside or while flying an airplane.

I had become many eons ago a traveling literary gnome, inquisitive about places I had and had not visited,
walking the same paths of peoples from the past, through places once grand and still grand,
photographing images that now show me the places about which I still dream . . .

Denton's Wright Opera House
Thorough article by Shelly Tucker about the Wright Opera House in Denton, Texas.
On my "to do list" to spend a few hours there, and then emerge with an armload of classics.
Homage to Paula and Dianne
I once attended an exhibit by photographic artist Paula Savage and was charmed by her work. Savage post-processes her images with thoughtful creativity. In some of her images, she adds a bird. We spent a long time studying every one of her images seeking birds.
Learning more about appreciating iphonography from artist Dianne Poinski, I discovered the joys of several art apps. DigitalFX allows one to add birds to an image, and I did . . . and over-did, joyfully! I posted the results above. Birds embellish photos.

Piglet Stampede
I thought I would have to jump aside when the piglets spotted me, watched me for a few seconds, and then ran away to my right.

Oklahoma Barn and Tractor
Old barn in Hackberry Flats near where we spotted the Barn owl and Great-horned owl.

Kestrel's Return
Returning to nature . . .
In searching for a nice background image for new cards, I found this one of an American Kestrel rescued and then released by Wild Bird Rescue. I took it last year when a supporter tossed the bird high toward the sky.

Jupiter and Moonrise at Dawn

Spartacus the Hawk
Hannah interacts with Spartacus, the Red-tailed hawk that she helped to rescue.
A gentleman phoned Wild Bird Rescue to say that he had watched for two weeks as a healthy hawk brought food to an injured hawk on the ground.
Spartacus displays one red tail feather, which, Hannah explains, shows his age, one year.
Spartacus.
Spartacus joins an impressive group of wild birds who serve as educational ambassadors that teach the community about wildlife and wild life issues. Please donate to Wild Bird Rescue.

Spring is Near
Spring is coming soon. I can tell from all the baby calves emerging from the grasslands.
Fair foreman waits for the cows to come to him and the feed he has brought for them.
Filling up the trailer with more food for the cattle and their young.

Fallen Windmill Wheel
A windmill wheel and its blades lie on the bank of a dry pond.
And here is the wheel viewed through a filter upon which I dabbed a bit of petroleum jelly.

Studying Aviation
Watching videos of Martha King teaching low route maps for Instrument Flight Rules takes great commitment and cat-like focus.

Let Lovely Turn of Phrase Begin
JMHawley Gave Me a Kiss to Build a Dream On
Listen, will you? I think that . . . literature, poetry, music and love make the world go round . . . while mathematics explains things; I fill my life with them, then go walking in snowy woods.
Let us go then, you and I
like two etherized patients floating
through life, together feeling prufrockian.
DDB Jr. makes my world go 'round; during his absence, Pachelbel fills it up.
One summer I sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, then through the Gulf of Finland to reach Saint Petersburg; I pursued Joseph Brodsky in its alley ways. I dream of making that two summers.
I read “Biking to Electra;” found my way in a Jaguar car, and glanced at the flashing steel grasshoppers at sunset. I’ll follow K.O.P.’s footsteps after he followed N.Scott Momaday’s; find warmth and inspiration on a rainy mountain.
Throw chinese coins for the I Ching.
Save the whales, the spotted owl, the woman in toil.
Cast a fly for trout; my memories of fly fishing under the sunny blue Colorado sky remain; I yearn to build more . . . with more trophy Browns.
Listen for the swan’s calls on the Baltic Sea. Feel KKII's joy, his arms spread wide in Yazilikaya.
Good night, Jimmy Durante, where ever you are.
